My boss is now out of town, and he has a very strange problem when using
Outlook 2003.
Some background info:
- We are using RPC over HTTP.
- The client pc is a Thinkpad X60, Windows XP SP2, Office 2003
- The following dial-up networking profiles are available:
1) AT&T
2) Long distance call back to HKG office
3) a useless dummy connection.
- ThinkVantage Access Connections is using to make connections
He can use the boardband provided by the hotel to access the Internet.
Normally, he can also access his emails using Outlook with RPC over
HTTP.
The problem:
When he opens Outlook, after entering the domain password (for RPC over
HTTP); a dialog box is prompted him to choose a dial-up connection (as
mentioned above). However, it is not required as the boardband network
is available. It seems that Outlook does not know that there is an
available connection established already.
I tried to simulate the situation to change the "connection" option in
Outlook to "connect using my phone line" and "connect using Internet
Explorer's or a 3rd party dialer". No matter what I try, there is no
such dialog box asking me to choose a dial-up connection.
May I ask if there is anybody has came across this problem (or similar
one) and any solution available.
