Need to control presence of a mail merge field

Using mail merge with an access database, I find that if
DOB (which is a date/time field in the database) is blank
in the database, it displays 12:00:00 AM in the Word
document. How can I make it absent without altering the
database? This problem only occurs with the DOB field, not
text fields.

Hi Thomas,

Which version of Word are we dealing with?
