Need to copy motion paths to new pictures

I have a slide I had already done the animation on using motion paths
for a couple of imported pictures. I now need to update those pictures
to something else but don't want to have to do the animations and
motion paths all over again. Is there a way to import the new picture
and either replace the old picture with it or to copy the animations to
the new picture? I'd also like it to stay in the same sequence in the
animation scheme. I've tried everything I can think of, but no luck.
I'm using ppt xp.

Try saving the file as a web page (html NOT .mht)You should get an html file
+ a folder of files including the pictures in question.

Replace the pictures in the folder with the new ones but give then exactly
the same name. Now reopen the html file in powerpoint.

Save the ppt as html. (Click File > Save as. Select Web Page under Save as
type). Open the output folder, and look for the picture. Replace it with a
new
picture that you want, and at the same time, ensure that the filename still
remain the same.

For example, if the filename is slide0001_image001.jpg, rename the new
picture as slide0001_image001.jpg and overwrite the original picture.
Now, open PowerPoint.

Click File > Open. Open the presentation (in .htm format) and resave it as
normal presentation.

Alternately,
You can use Animation Carbon to copy the animations from one image to
another.

Another good way is to fill an autoshape with the image instead of using
Insert > Picture. This allows you to change the image anytime you want
without losing the animations. Check this tutorial out:
