MS project 2003 and Server 2003
We have a PM that deleted a task after the resource reported that they
should not be assigned to it. The problem is that the assignment was not
"closed out" prior to deleting the task. And the resource reported the
update to the PM in the form of a task update from PWA and adding a note.
So, now, the resource continues to receive e-mails everyday informing them
they are overdue. Of course, the task no longer exists in the project.
I lookedin the SQL database and found the assignment record in question.
WASSN_UPDATE_TRACKING_MODE = 1 (presumably because the resource did an actual
update from PWA by adding a note). WASSN_DELETED_IN_PROJ = 0 since the
assignment was never closed out.
Other than saving the project as an .mpp file, deleting the project from the
server and re-importing it to the project server, is there another safe way
for me to delete this assignment? Or replace values in the above fields to
indicate that the assignment is deleted? It seems like that could be the
"easiest" fix but I don't want to end up "breaking" something else in the
database.
If deleting the project and re-importing is the best option, is there a way
to do so that doesn't make all of the assignments (completed or otherwise)
marked as new assignments? Doing so confuses resources since they receive an
e-mail AND see "x" many new assignments when they log into PWA, even though
they aren't really new assignments.
Thanks!
