Need to export a NEW label format to use on another system.

I'm using Word 2000. I created a new label within the
Envelopes and Labels, Label Options. Everything works
fine on my PC. When I do a mail merge I can select that
new label and everything prints just fine.

The problem I'm having is when I want to do the same mail
merge on another system, the new label I created on my
system is not there. I tried to find an export button but
couldn't find any. Tried to save my file as a template
and open it on another system and the new label is still
not there. I guess it could be a file that I need to
migrate to the other system but I couldn't find any
information about that file. If anyone knows how I could
bring the new label format from my system to another
without having to recreate the new label on the other
system I would greatly appreciate.

If you are doing a mail merge, there are three components:
a. the mail merge main document, containing a table that corresponds to the
label layout and the "placeholder" merge fields that tell Word where to put
the data from...
b. the data source
c. the output.

If you want to do the same /merge/ on another machine, you need (a), which
is a .doc, and (b), which could be all sorts of things - another .doc, an
Access .mdb etc. At the moment I suspect you could be just previewing the
merge document and printing a page of labels. If so, although it looks as if
the document "contains" the labels, it does not, so just copying the .doc is
not enough.

If you just want to use the same /layout/ on the other machine, all you need
is the .doc, but you will have to connect it to a new data source.

If you just want to print exactly the same page(s) of labels, what you need
to do is /complete the merge/, outputting to a new document. Then save that
document and copy that to the other machine.

The custom label formats for Word 2000 are stored in the Windows registry at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Custom Labels

Export the registry key and merge with the other system's registry. Note
that Word 2000 label formats ARE NOT compatible with Word 2002/3. You need
to rekey them for those versions.
