Need to identify "my resources" for a manger

I am having an issue with notifications of task updates for managers. I have
implemented RBS, but the resource managers are not getting notifications when
their resources make updates to their schedules, even when the options are
set to do so.

The resource managers can see their employees in PWA, it is just the
notifications that are not working. Is the reminder/notification service
part of Sharepoint? Could some configuration there be out of sync?

I would really appreciate any clues to what might be causing this and a way
to determine what users the system thinks are in a manager's group.

Thanks!

Do any of your notifications work? If not, make sure you have set up the
Notifications & Reminders correctly in Admin/Customize Web Access.

Yes, all of the other notifications work. I get notified of the updates (I
am the project manager) and those managers that do not receive updates for
their staff do receive updates for their own tasks.

I did not read your question thoroughly enough and I apologize. The
notification facility is for project managers and team members only.

The PM can set notifications on or off for their team and team members can
set their own notifications. The PM overrides the team member settings.

Resource managers would be flooded with changes if they saw every transaction.

Rick,

Thanks for your prompt reply!

There is a page for "Alert me about my resources on tasks and status
reports" that allows managers to configure notifications for updates
submitted by their resources.

On this page, I see "Send email immediately when my resources.....Submit New
Tasks or Assignments, Delegate Tasks, or Update Tasks"

What are these options for? Are you saying below in your response that
these options override the employees' alert configuration?

Thanks again for your help!

The target audience for notifications are (a) PM's and (b) team members. Each
can tailor notifications. You will see that the PM has two notification
options: (1) Alert me about MY tasks and (2) Alert me about my RESOURCES.
Team members only have the former.

The PM can override what the team members sets their notification options
using the 2nd (my resources) option, so if a team member turns them off but
the PM wants them to receive notifications if, for example, if their tasks
are late, they will receive notifications even though they elected to turn
them off.

I read the documentation regarding alerts a little differently than you
describe. My resource managers also have the two notification options you
mention below. The Project Server 2003 Resource Managers Guide describes
these options differently......I read it again, and I guess it could be
interpreted in 2 ways. Chapter 3 describes the setting of these
options.....on one hand, it mentions configuring the alerts for "your
resources" and then it goes into detail about how "you" can receive emails
when your resources "submit new tasks" "delegate tasks" or "update tasks."

Thanks again for your help.......I will have to figure out another way to
report the update detail to each manager.

Typically resource managers are also project managers therefore yes, they
will see the notification options. The notifications will work for thir own
projects (i.e. they have their "PM hat" on) or if they are a resource on
someone else's project.
