Is there any way I can open a file created in Word 8.0 (MAC) on my PC with
Word 2003? I no longer have access to the MAC but need to open files
previously created on it.

I believe you can if you saved the Mac files with the .rtf extension..

Hi Laurie,

MS Word 97 for the PC (v8.0) shared the file format
with MS Word Mac98 (v8.0), there may be an issue
with the PC being able to read a MAC diskette in
some cases without an additional software utility.

Thanks Mike, but I don't have access to the Mac any more. Am trying to locate
someone who has one.

Hi Bob
Do you know of any software, preferably FREE? as I only have 3 docs to
convert.

Irfanview might read them, and might be able to save in a format that you
can work with.. not sure if you can copy text out of Irfanview and paste
into a Word doc, though..

You have little to lose and everything to gain.. it is free and downloads
easily as it is quite a small file.. good luck.
