Need to Reduce the file size

I have an EXcel workbook, 4 worksheets large, that has minimal data in it (it
is used as a template). With the minimal data, the workbook is 3.4 meg
large. There are no macros in it. Why is it so huge? What can I do to
reduce the file size?

I had the same problem today, turns out the problem was additional hidden
sheets. this may or may not be your problem but worth a try. In excel, go
to format - sheets - hidden sheets. This will show if you have any.

Hi Frank, I had this problem and fixed it myself before reading this thread.
I just selected the cell range I wanted to keep and pasted it into a new
workbook. Using my method this reduced the file size from 2.3Mb to 29.5k.
Using the contextures method reduced to 38k. Obviously my method takes no
account of macros etc but for a simple spreadsheet it works fine. However,
the link to Contextures very interesting!
