Need to send handout to Word but want black and white

In older versions of PPoint, I could change the presentation to black and
white, then send it to Word to create the handout, and the handout would be
black and white. I'm using 2003 PPoint and 2000 Word, and the handout is
coming out in color.

I know about the HOW software, and am trying to avoid the purchase. Is there
a way I can do this in 2003 other than keeping the handout in PPoint?

Unfortunately the B/W settings in Send to Word (and Save As WMF and TIF)
were removed as of PPT 2002 (aka PPT XP).

The only thing I know to use is Shyam Pillai's Handout Wizard (which you
mentioned below) http://skp.mvps.org/how/ -- and to be honest, I'm not
positive there's a B/W setting in it. I know it will do greyscale, as will
Bill Dilworth's Slide Into Word
http://billdilworth.mvps.org/SlideIntoWord.htm -- but I don't know that
either will do the equivalent of black and white (where a dark slide
background becomes a white slide thumbnail background in Word). Both add-ins
have demo versions, though, so it's definitely worth trying them both.

What I do is keep PPT 2000 installed just for Send to Word.

Wish I had a better answer for you.
