Need to stack numbers for Atomic notation in Chemistry

I want to be able to use something like superscript/subscript notation for
Atomic notation in Chemistry papers. I was able to do this in Word Perfect
but the format I must use is Word 2003. Please tell me step by step how to
do this.

For this you will find it simplest to use the built-in Equation Editor,
which can easily do subscripts and superscripts in the same position. The EE
is not installed by default (in a Typical installation), so first check to
see if you have it. If you do, you'll find Microsoft Equation 3.0 listed
under Insert | Object | Create New. You can use that dialog to insert an
equation, but it's a lot easier if you add an EE button to your toolbar
using Tools | Customize (it's in the Insert category).

If you find that EE is not listed, here's how to install it:

Go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, select Microsoft Office, and
click the Change button. In the first page, select "Add or Remove Features."
On the next page, expand "Office Tools." Select Equation Editor and set it
to "Run from My Computer." Click the Update button, and insert the Office CD
when prompted.
