Need to turn off tracking permanently not each time

In Word: I've turned off tracking changes & edits in this document so I can
print it & it will look good - I really don't want them at all ever. But each
time I open up the document, they are there again - how can I turn them fof
permanently?

Not sure how you "turned off tracking changes". Changing to
Final view on the Reviewing toolbar hides the tracked changes,
but does not remove them. To remove the tracked changes, you
need to click on "Accept all changes in document" on the
Reviewing toolbar. See

This is a major pain in Word 2003. YOU CANNOT TURN OFF TRACKED CHANGES ONCE YOU HAVE SWITCHED THEM ON! This means that if you put an auto date (date printed for example) in the footer, word will show it as a change for ever.
