I am trying to fgure out how to get WebDAV on an NT 4.0 Workstation that
alread has IE6. I saw MSDN articles mentioning that it could get installed
with IE5, but I also need IE6 on the machine. Any ideas?

Hi Stacey,

WebDAV is one HTTP extension which is defined in RFC 2518. IIS provides the
WebDAV service from server side and IE uses the WebDAV from the client
side. It will be appreciated you tell me what your concern is: are you
going to set up the WebDAV in Windows NT4.o workstation or just use the
WebDAV in IE6.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions. I am
standing by to be of assistance.

Well.. I am using the AppUpdater component and it uses webdav to download
program updates. WHen I run it on an NT box, it crashes. The only thing I
can guess is that WebDAV is not installed.

Hi Stacey,

Thank you for replying and more information regarding this issue!

So far as I know, WebDAV is not officially supported until in windows 2000.
You will need to install one webdav solution from a 3rd party WebDEV
provider in windows NT4 workstation to provide the service. Since the
offical WebDAV developed by Microsoft is not available until Windows 2000,
you can also update your OS to windows 2000.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Stacey,

Thank you for replying!

WebDAV is officially supported from Windows 2000. The web publishing of
Ofice 2000 means the office Application can convert the document into HTML
files, and can publish those pages directly to a web server using FTP.

From IIS side, so far as I know, IIS4 resource kit contains one webdav
support which will help you to provide the WebDAV service in IIS4. At the
resource kit, this is called "Distributed Authoring and Versioning". You
will obtain more information regarding IIS4 resource kit from the link:
