Hi Lynn,
What version of MS Office and Windows are you using and what language are you working in?
For Office XP and Office 2003 Dictation is available as an optional install feature for English (U.S.), Chinese and Japanese. For
Office 2007 it isn't included in Office at all, even though MS has started a new Office products group to combine the 'ffice
communications' technologies together
http://microsoft.com/office/uc . It's now a 'Windows team' responsibility.
Windows Vista does provide a dictation mode (adds some features and takes some away) for use with MS Office, but apparently for
Windows XP, MS hasn't provided a 'how to' that I've noticed yet. You may want to ask the folks (if you're trying the 2007 Office
system beta on Windows XP) in the desktop speech newsgroup below if they have a method for providing it.
There are 3rd party products that do well with this functionallity as well, such as Dragon
