Need your advice about tracking method

Hi,
(PS2007, SP1)
I am using tracking method "Actual work done and work remaining".
When creating a given tasks we first evaluate workload, then we allocate
resources (with a given capacity), then it fixes the finish date.
For sake of simplicity let's say we allocate 1 team member with a given
capicity (eg 75%)
When tracking, I ask team member to enter Actual Work Done and Remaining
Work to be done. At this step Project Server will adjust Finish Date (using
the given capacity).
Does-it make sense to also ask the team member to also enter newly estimated
Finish Date (eg Actual Work Done as estimated, more Remaining Work than
estimated but keep Finish Date as previously scheduled because resource will
increase his/her capacity to finsih the task)?
How does Project Server manage this ? (resource capacity is changed? eg from
75% to 100%)
My concern is that the 3 inputs (Actual Work Done, Remaining Work to be
done, New estimated Finish Date) are required to fully understand how task
objective can be reached...
Thanks for your advice

JPA ,

Its going to boil down to an either or scenario. Either let them fill
in remaining work (whisch will impact the finish date) or let them
enter the finish date (which will impact the work) You will also have
to change your task type to something like fixed units effort driven ,
that should take care of the varying resource assignments.

Hope this helps
