Negative Numbers being bracketed

M

Mel

Hi there

I have just gotten a new computer and when I loaded
Office XP in and went to use Excel instead of showing
negative numebers in brackets it is showing them with a
little minus sign, when the cell is formatted to be
Accounting. I need them to be shown in brackets and I
dont have a clue as to how to make it do that. Any Ideas??

Thanks
Mel

Just when using the Accounting format? When you Format>Cells>Number>Number do
you see an option for brackets?

If not..........

This is a function of your Regional Settings in Windows OS.

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Regional and Language Settings>Regional
Options>Customize>Currency>Negative Currency Format. Click on drop-down arrow
and select the ($1.1)

Apply and OK>Apply your way out.

You will have to close Excel then re-open to see effects.

If you already have the brackets format available you could go to
Format>Styles and select Accounting and modify to your liking.
