Negative Time

I am writing a flexible working hours timesheet. It is
possible to carry forward credit and debit hours between
flexi periods. How can I input a negative time carry
forward on a new sheet?
I understand this function is possible in Excel 2002 but I
dont have Excel 2002. Is there a work around in Excel 97
or 2000?

Negative time will show as ########### and so on however you can still use
it in calculations
so if A1 holds 8:00 and A2 holds 10:00, now =A1-A2 will return #########
but if you add that cell to lets say 6:00 the result will be 04:00.
Or you can use the Mac excel time system under tools>options>calculation and
select
1904 date system. The only caveat is that the dates in a workbook where you
change this will
have 4 years and one day added (1462 days) so for those dates you have to
subtract 1462 days

Thanks for the response. It does not solve my problem as
the flexi sheets will be used by people who will want to
see the negative hours value shown after they have typed
it in - they will also not wish to change time systems on
their computers just to make this file work. Any more
thoughts?

They don't need to change time systems on their computers, just in
the workbook. Choose Tools/options/Calculation, and check the 1904
date system checkbox). The system clock and all other time and date
functions will remain the same.
