.NET 3.5 installation

I am confused about installing .NET 3.5 Framework. Am I supposed to unistall
previous versions first? I have .NET 1.1 Framework and hotfix.

I tried installing it without unistalling the previous two and it crashed my
computer, I had to use system restore. was this just a bad download and
install? or am I supposed to unistall 1.1 first?

This is not an Office issue. But just to let you know every .net framework is different and each one is used for a different purpose. 3.5 does not update 1.1 etc etc etc
