.Net framework to develop against Project Server?

Newbie question, so please hold your torches

I need to do a bit of development against Project Server, and I already
found out about the Project Data Service from the SDK, but I much rather use
a rich object model than the XML webservices (personal preference). My app
will run on the server, so deployment is not an issue.

Problem: can't seem to find any documentation to get me started in this
direction. Any hints or pointers? I'm looking into something on the likes
of the Microsoft.Sharepoint namespaces ...
