.net vs ms outlook 2003 business contact manager

have installed .net 2.0 and now outlook cannot open - error message is
business contacts manager has incurred a serious error and must shut down

end of story, no progress with debug

uninstall .net 2.0 and problem goes away

need .net 2.0 for new software, but also need outlook to work!

any help out there?
