Has anyone tried to link two workbooks running on different machines??
I found an interesting article on how this can be done --
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;128491
This is exactly what I want to do -- only problem I can't get it to
work!! I am using Windows XP and Excel 2003. I have two seperate
machines and I have enabled NetDDE on both of them. Also I know that
NetDDE itself is working because I can use the Clipbook program
successfully to transfer the contents of the clipboard from one
computer to another.
I also know that my formula in Excel on the Client side is correct.
Since there is a DDE Share on the server machine called CLPBK$, and
after some trial and error I know a valid item item for this Share is
Topics -- I can type in a formula on the client side in Excel.
='\\WSXP-Smukhtar2\NDDE$'|'CLPBK$'!Topics
And it does work...it returns me a ??. Whereas random garbage formula
return me #N/A. Now the mystery -- I created an excel workbook on the
Server side called Sales.xls. Created a DDEShare but when I try to
connect to it from the Client Side I get #N/A. Any insights??
