This issue is driving us crazy. We have three Macs connecting to network
drives a Windows 2003 server with AFP (but connection with SMB does the same
thing). Two of the Macs (G4s) are running 10.2.8, and a G5 is running
10.3.4. With all three machines, the connection to the network drive is
being terminated within 30 to 60 minutes, all day long, every day of the
week. Out of the blue, a dialog box comes up and says you¹ve been
³disconnected.² Sometimes. Sometimes it stays up all day, especially if
it¹s being used heavily, leading me to think it was an inactivity time-out
issue. But sometimes it disconnects while you¹re working on a Word
document! The problem has persisted through OS upgrades, permission
repairs, everything.
Our IT folks have tried everything they can think of, too. But we really
don¹t have Mac expertise here, from a sys admin perspective; it¹s really a
Windows shop.
Can anyone out there help us? Can you at least tell me what group within
Microsoft or Apple to ask? I¹ve posted messages on support at both sites,
but still no luck. I don¹t think I¹m asking the right questions of the
right people...
ANY help would be greatly appreciated! The current situation is incredibly
unproductive and frustrating!!!!
Thanks,
Rick
