Network or File Permission Error

This is the notorious error that seems to have come back to haunt me
in a mac enviroment of 25 computers:
"There has been a network or file permission error. The network
connection may be lost. (filename)"

If anyone has an answer that would be great. Whats weird is this
error in the office suite only appears in word, not in excel, ppt,
etc. I have tried the UID thing, but that is mute for me becuase the
users are binded to the server, and eah user has a diffrent UID on the
server. I have auto save off and I have virus scan off on each
computer, so any other ideas I am willing to try. Otherwise Open
Office might be the next thing to try..

One thing that corrupts Word files is if they are opened from any kind of
removable media. (usb drives, floppies, cd, etc.) They should be downloaded
to the local hard drive first; made non-read only, if necessary, and then
opened in Word. Resaved back to the removable media after Word is done with
them. I don't know if that is related to your current problem.

I suspect it's your Unix User ID. See if any of the techniques described
here help: http://word.mvps.org/FAQS/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm

The UID is diffrent for each user on the server. I am having some
users start to use SAMBA connection and see if the error dissapears.
IF it does that means that these errors only apear over AFP.
