I run an electronic medical record in my office with SQL
datafiles on separate server. If I try to open a template
from a workstation, to enter patient note, it opens in about 2 seconds, if
separate workstation that has attached
USB HP network printer, is powered on.
If my receptionist turns off this PC, before I'm done working on my other
Dell, it takes about 30 seconds to load the same EMR template from my other
Dell PC, where I dictate. The delay does not happen,
if I re-power up this receptionist's PC, even with network printer power
button off, even without having to enter W2000 network login.
Why should this other workstation affect access of data
from SQL server, by other networked PC's? It used to act as SQL Server for
datafile, before I upgraded to separate Dell Poweredge 2600 Server box. I
tried disabling SQL profile on the other workstation, but the above delay
still occurred if unit turned off. Tech support for my EMR were clueless as
the the reason for this delay.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
