I have recently migrated my workgroup templates to a new server, which by
the way is a PITA. The new server has a different name than the old server,
so the template paths all had to be changed. I wrote a macro that opened
every one of our Word docs, changed the template path for docs based on
workgroup templates, & saved the files. This worked for 99% of the
documents -- they open fine with the old server taken offline.
However, I have a few documents that refuse to open when the old server is
offline. They open fine if I plug the server bI've checked the path of the
attached templates for these docs, & they are correct. Eg, the templates are
\\newserver\templates\letter.dot, instead of
\\oldserver\templates\letter.dot. When we try to open these documents, we
get an hourglass that never times out -- no error messages. I've changed
Macro Security to Medium, but we never get a prompt to enable macros. So I
don't think it's an issue with an autoexec macro.
I also checked the status of open files on the old server when a user opens
one of the documents in question, and no files show as open.
Still, if I unplug the old server from the network, I can't open these Word
docs.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
