How can I best save to a network location using Word? Right now I have to
save to the desktop and then transfer it to our document server. Is there an
easy way to accomplish this?

Thank You

Hi Shannen,

You are using a Mac, right? If so, click the arrow next to the file
name. This will expand the Save dialog and let you browse to anything
that your computer has access to--assuming the server is mounted on your
desktop, it should show up in the sidebar of the Save dialog. (This is
not a Word-specific problem, you might have to expand the Save dialog in
other programs, as the OS makes it the default appearance).

If the collapsed Save dialog is not the problem, you'll need to give
more details about how your network operates so that a networking expert
(not me!), can help. Also state OS and Word version numbers.

Hello Shannen,
as Daiya has suggested it is possible, however, I would always prefer
to save your file to your hard drive and then send it to server. Why?
Imagine, that you are right in the middle of saving your file when the
network"s gone, what will happen? You will loose your file or at least
it is prone to be corrupted, so I always save file to my HDD first and
then to transfer them. The same is true when I receive email
attachment, first I save it to my HDD then I open it there. It's much
safer.
