Network scanning no longer working after Office SP3 has been insta

Hi. My company uses a network scanner and MS Document Scanning to scan
documents to their computers. This was working fine up until a recent Office
update, which has caused the scanning tool to stop working. The software
itself starts up ok, but it doesn't detect the scanner and won't scan
anything in. Annoyingly, the scanner still works in all other software that
can utilise the TWAIN driver, including porograms like Word, Excel etc.

I have checked the scanner driver installation vigorously, including
reinstalling it and checking that it is the very latest version. I have tried
rolling back to an older version with no avail. I have even gone so far as to
build a new machine with which to test this and saw this behaivor in action;
Immediately after finishing the Windows installation, I installed the TWAIN
driver and set the scanner up. It worked. After installing the Office and
Windows updates, it no longer worked. I have scoured the SP3 release notes
for Office and all recent updates and found nothing of relevance.

If anyone can offer some fresh input on the problem, it would be much
appreciated.
