I have an Access 2000 database, that has been put onto a shared network.

Users click onto the database and open it up, can i do anything to make sure
that users cant click and delete the actual database itself.

I have the database password protected, but how can I stop it simply been
deleted.

You can't. If the users don't have read, write, create, and DELETE privileges
to the folder holding the database, it won't work in a multi-user
environment. IMHO this is a weakness in Access.

What to do?

Backups. Very frequent backups. Maybe to your own hard drive where other
users can't get to it.

Give them a shortcut on their desktop or off the Start button so that they
don't have to go out to Windows Explorer to click on it.

Network auditing. Your network guys and gals should be able to set it up so
that they can tell you who deleted the database. Then you can apply the
proper disciplinary solution such as a 2"x4" applied to the side of the head.

Your users should be using a front-end to see the database. They should not
have to go to the share directly to use the database.

Ensure that the user has only Read, Write, Create and File Scan permissions
on the network directory.

Though this is not related to your question, it is advisable to have user
level security set up - not through the wizard - instead of a database
password.
