networking problem...could FP be the cause?

I've been trying to get my 2 computers to share information. After asking
all kinds of questions and having people in the know about this kind of
thing be unsuccessful, I finally found somebody who, after working 2 1/2
hours got the machines to recognize each other (both XP machines- running
thru a Linksys router- nothing unusual about either machine...both setup the
way they're suppossed to). After trying everything the comp. tech removed
the network connection to my MS FrontPage program (I do my webpages with FP
and edit them directly online). All of the sudden the machines linked...and
worked fine until the next time I edited my website thru FrontPage. Even
after I removed that network link the sharing didn't work. This seems to be
a puzzlement to everyone who's tried to help me...even network tech
installers. Could there possibly be something that FP is doing that causes
the machines not to allow linkage. I've tried with and without my Norton
Firewall activated- so that's not the problem. We're all at a loss to be
able to fix this problem. I'd be very greatful if anybody can give me an
answer to fix my problem. They say sharing with XP is easy...can't prove it
by me.
Thanks for any help. E-Mailing me directly would be much appreciated.

Do you mean Windows file sharing?

Whoa. What does this mean: "...removed the network
connection to my MS FrontPage program?"

FrontPage uses the same network conenction as the rest of
the computer.

Did you do *anything* other than start FrontPage, edit
your site, and stop FrontPage?
Even after I removed that network link

Please explain what you mean by, "...removed that network
link."
the sharing didn't work. This seems to be a puzzlement

No, I do what you seem to be describing all the time.
Something else is going on.
