netzero

Okay, i have set outlook according to the directions given by netzero. in
the connection tab of "more settings" i have selected connect using my phone
line. There was a default of 2222, so i left it and nothing happened. Then
i went back in and keyed in the phone number that netzero dials from my home
when i log on (a 1 ended up in front of the 10 digit number, and i couldn't
figure out where to get rid of that) and that didn't work.

I'm not getting any error messages. My hotmail appears and i recently added
my university account as an IMAP and that now appears, too - i can send and
receive from both of these accounts and still pull them up on their
respective websites, if need be. Netzero is programed in as an e-mail
account in Outlook (2003) but there my messages have migrated over. There
are no netzero-type folders anywhere in my outlook - oh and when i have done
the "send test message" the following message appears in my netzero inbox
(when i check through netzero's webmail)
"This is an e-mail message sent automatically by Microsoft Office Outlook's
Account Manager while testing the settings for your POP3 account."

Last thing, i can receive messages to my netzero account with either
(e-mail address removed) or .NET they seem interchangeable. so i tried both .com
and .net in my e-mail address and (i think) my pop and smpt addresses.

Any thoughts? anyone? bueller?

it sounds like the problem is with the pop server - you are able to send but
not receive. is the account set up correctly according to their
instructions?

The "1" comes from the Modem and Dialing properties in Windows Control
Panel.

What does this mean: "but there my messages have migrated over"?
There are no netzero-type folders
anywhere in my outlook

You should see three sets of folders: the IMAP folders, the Hotmail folders
and one called "Personal Folders". This last is where all POP mail will
arrive.

If, however, you have Outlook Live, then the Hotmail folders may be your
delivery location and that's where the Hotmail messages will be placed.
Click File>Data File Management and you'll see all of the folder files you
have defined.
- oh and when i have done the "send test
message" the following message appears in my netzero inbox (when i

You know, therefore, that the SMTP portion of your account has been set up
correctly.

I though you said you couldn't receive the netzero messages.

Thank you for trying - let me try to clarify, b/c i am very confused - in
outlook i can't see my netzero mail anywhere, personal folders, inbox -
nowhere. i can still go to www.netzero.com and check my mail of course. The
last piece i had said is not outlook related, if you send me an e-mail
either to netzero.com or netzero.net, i still receive (on netzero's website)
it has always been this way, so i'm wondering if this interchangability is
causing the confusion when i'm trying to get the account set-up in outlook.
Again, if i go into "e-mail accounts' my netzero is set-up there along with
the IMAP and hotmail that i can access, but i do see my netzero account
anywhere else in outlook. i hope i am posing this question accurately

I have not fully read the previous dialogue - however if you do not have a
"paid" Netzero account you an still access mail on their site - but cannot
access through an e-mail program such as Outlook.

Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Look at the "Deliver new e-mail to the
following location" drop-down at the bottom left. That's where your netzero
mail will be delivered once you have the account set correctly.
i can still go to www.netzero.com and check my mail

That won't affect it at all.

Are you sure youre netzero account settings are accurate? What happens when
you use the Test button for that account?
