new appointment from contact- linked with info

When a new customer calls I need to be able to create a new contact,
then create an appointment linked to the contact that has all of the
contact info in it.

I can create a Create New Appt with Contact which links the contact,
but gives me no contact info on the appointment.

Or I can save the new contact, locate it in the contact list (a pain),
drag it to the calendar icon and a new appointment opens with all the
needed contact info. BUT, the appointment is not linked. I then have to
click Link Record, and go through 2-3 more steps to get the appointment
linked to the contact. This is quite a hassle to do while the customer
is on the phone.

Isn't there any way to merge these two ways of creating an appointment
with all the info I need that is automatically linked to the contact?
Is there a macro anywhere that will do this?

Hi Dean,

Are you creating the new appointment from Business Contact form or regular
Contact form?

I think you are expressing a concern that calendar items should open BCM
records if they are linked and right now the only way to see what record
that calendar record belongs to is to look in the business history of a
particular contact, which is a pain.

I am writing something to address this issue. It will probably be
implemented as a right-click option. You would right-click on a calendar
entry and choose to open the BCM record that is linked to that appointment.
This requirement is a part of a larger product that I am developing. I am
looking at this in BCM 2007 and I agree that this feature needs more work.
