new appointments

I am not able to double click on my calendar to enter an appointment. I
can't even get the new appointment drop menu to work either. How do I
correct?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, kbarnes asked:
