New assignment request causing error

I have a new assignment request in my Updates tab on my PWA for a project
that I am the owner of. When I accept this and click Update, I recieve this
message in PWA:

"Some approved task changes cannot be updated in Project files. Click view
details for more information. If you rejected a task, the resource has been
notified by email.

Please save your project files with the new updates. The updated tasks will
remain in the table until you save the project files."

View details says: "The following projects were not updated correctly for
the following reasons: 1. PROJECT NAME: Unknown error."

Then the update stays on my Updates tab, and I get a spooler error with the
following info: Message Type - Publish New and chagned Assignments, Error -
DATABASE ERROR (0x80040E14), Time - time I updated, Project File -
MSPJ0000.MTM which is not my project name, Server - server name

I do see the task in the plan, but not the actual hours entered.

What can I do to correct this???
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
AMB

You need to be specific.

Is this a working Project Server with this one problem?

You need to be specific. If it was a working Project Server and this error
occured, the quickest way is to save the project as a file. Get on PWA and
delete the project. Once deleted, import the Project back to the server.
Unless the project itself is corrupted, it will work. Of course, any user
entries in PWA will be gone when you delete the project.

Or is this a fresh install and it never worked before?

If that's the case, Project Server was not installed properly. If the above
method does nopt solve your problem, it is probably a bad install of MS
Project Server...

This is a working project server with several other projects that are just
fine.

Thanks for the info... I will try this.

AMB:

This is caused by someone assigning themselves to a task that they've
already been assigned to. Sometimes users will try this when they
accidentally hide a task or can't find it in their view because they have
the incorrect view selected. It also indicates that you're behind in
applying your service packs.<g>

Thanks Gary,
That was kindof what I thought. Is there any way to fix this?

I just upgraded to SP2 on Project Pro... will that help the problem not
occur on any other future plans?

I haven't heard of this occurring since SP1. I can't guarantee it, however.
