As a newly self-employed plumber I need to keep lists of
materials/stock so that I can a) keep a track of what I keep on the
shelf ready to use, b) know when to reorder c) can print off easy to
issue estimates based on what materials I will need to complete a job.
(saves me having to thumb thro' numerous suppliers catogues, with a
notepad and pocket calculator), a one-out-one-in bathroom consumes
about 30 or so different components, though I keep maybe 100 or so
different types of pipe fittings.

So.......... does any one have an excel workbook - template? - that I
could try out? I am familiar with the concept of 'lookup' , and realise
that entering data for the first time is a chore, and that changing
prices need to be kept up to date.

By the way, although I use a Mac, if i am emailing estimates to
potential customers, they may be using PC's with maybe EXCEL or just MS
works, so would my lists work on a PC?

sorry if this is long winded query, sample sheets in Excel were not what
I think iam looking for, also did a search using stock, lists,
stockkeeping etc, but answers seemed to be 'stock-market' related, not
small businesses like mine!

all replies gratefully received

Try searching on Inventory instead. Look at mactopia, there may be several
examples there. In general, PC Excel users will have no problems reading
your Mac files. You may want to prepare a pdf file to send them instead. Use
File-print and then select PDF in the bottom of the print dialog.
