New Character

S

How do I create a character like in a pronunciation key (a long vowel sound)?
I want to be able to type the letters c, s, and p with a line over it.

Go to Insert > Symbol, in the upper right choose the portion of
Unicode called "Combining Diacritics," and select (double-click) the
"macron" character. It will go on top of the letter preceding it in
your text.

Thank you. That is so good to know! I had read that this new feature (well,
since, Unicode 3 or something) was not available in Word.

If you read this newsgroup regularly, you will see me complain about
once a week that Word 2003 (and Windows XP) were never updated beyond
Unicode 2.0, as a result of which I have to switch to Vista and 2007.
But the Combining Diacritics made it in.
