New computer--Office 2000 & 2003

We are going to get a new computer. How can I install Office 2003 (it's an
upgrade) on this computer since it's been activated on the other one? And
since it's an upgrade from 2000, will I have to install 2000 first? Both
programs are legal and I have original CD's and product keys.

Office 2003 is compatible with Vista {assume your new computer with have
Vista}.

Just install Office 2003 upgrade on your new computer. If and when you are
asked for a qualifying product insert the Office 2002 CD in the drive to
qualify. You do not need to install Office 2000. If your new computer has
another qualifying program, you will not be asked for a qualifying product.

After you install Office 2003, activate it. The program will either activate
or you will be provided with a number to call Microsoft. Explain that you
are moving Office 2003 to a new computer and Microsoft will give you a
activation number.

Transfer your data files from your old computer. Consider using a flash
drive.

Uninstall Office 2003 from your old computer. No need to de-activate.

A caution.

If your new computer comes with a trial version of Office, uninstall the
trial version before you install Office 2003.
