new contact error

R

Roberto

When I add a new contact and enter the phone number details then choose
save
and close, a window opens requesting data to be entered into the
following fields:

What country/region are you in now?
Area code

but the country/region field is grey and it's drop down list is empty,
the only
way out is to use task manager to close the window.
Is this fixable ?.

You need to set your dialing location for your operating system in Control
Panel > Phone and modem...

Just tried that but the problem also exists there , also checked Region
and Time Zone, they are all correct.

What do you mean "the problem exists there?"
All you need to do is enter your local area code where I told you.

I understand what to do, but the box is grey - when I click on the
arrow to open the list box to choose a location, the list is empty.
If I just enter my area code a windows pops up to tell me I must
enter a region or country you are calling from.

These aren't Outlook questions.
You should ask in the appropriate OS group. You haven't even mention what OS
you are using nor whether you configured your Regional settings correctly.
