New db opens in 2000, not 2002

I do have Access2002 installed on my computer, my old database is in 2002
format; I went to open a new database and it came up in the 2000 format with
the mdb extension. I couldn't figure out how to changes it to the 2002
format, nor could I figure out how to delete the name, and I was looking
around on the computer as different ideas came to me, and I found the option
to open a new project, so I clicked on that thinking that it would overwrite
the 2000 version, but instead I got a new project name with the extension

.adp<, which tried to access the internet ~~ that's not anything I need or

want to be able to do.

Now I have these two items appearing in my Access list and don't know how to
get rid of them, nor how to begin designing a new database in the 2002
format. Help, please.

Access 2002 and 2003 both default to using the Access2000 format.
There are very few changes between the database formats in the
different versions; it's pretty routine to use A2002 to work with 2000
format databases.

If you're asking how to remove the database names from the "recently
opened" list, why bother? Just don't pick them! They're just pointers.
You can simply delete the .adp project file off your disk if you wish.

If you really want to open the existing 2000 format database and
convert it to 2002 format, open it; and select Tools... Database
Utilities... Convert... Convert to New Version from the menu.
