New document normal template corrupted

A friend's 5-year-old daughter somehow inserted some Word
Art into the blank new document template (normal.dot).

She can delete the Word Art each time, but every new
document contains it. We created a new template which she
can open instead, but not vis the icon.

I tried re-saving after deleting the WordArt, but it won't
allow it. I tried creating a new template and then trying
to save it as Normal.dot, both within Word and in
Explorer, but not allowed.

Any help that anyone can give please?

Start/Search/ForFiles or Folders/ check the advanced box, and search for
"Normal.dot" and when it comes up, DELETE it, (right click,delete) and it
will create a new one the next time you start Word.
