New Document on opening Word 2008

Hello

Every time Word 2008 opens or comes from hiding, without an active document,
it opens a new blank document (it also happens with Excel). There is an easy
way to avoid this? I didn't saw on preferences the classical option: On open
(open a new document / do nothing)

Thanks

That option has never been implemented in Word for Mac (well, IIRC, you
could use an "Advanced Setting" as recently as Word 5.1), and doesn't
exist in Word08.

However, I notice that when Word is hidden, switching to it via CMD-Tab
or choosing "Show" from the popup menu when Word is selected from the
Dock brings Word back into focus without a new document, whereas just
clicking on the dock icon creates a blank document

The option gets mentioned occasionally here - be sure you use Help/Send
Feedback on Word to let MacBU know that this is important to you (and
how it would make you more productive, etc).
