New Email Message - symbols

Hi,
I have a user which toggled on some sort of symbol when the write or reply
to email. It look s like a IP but flipped the other way. Where would i
toggle this back off?

Start a new email item, go to the Tools menu > Options > View tab. Turn off
the option to view field codes and formatting symbols (like the paragraph
symbol you seem to be seeing)

The view field was not selected.
I don't know if this helps but its not just that symbol. the are .(periods)
in any space and a return arrow going down whenever a new line is started.

Are you using Word as your email editor in Outlook (prior to OL2007)?

Have that person click the Pilchrow mark (i.e., ¶) in the toolbar of the
Compose window.
