New emails always assigned one Category

Hello All,

I have created several categories to classify my contacts, but entourage per
default, so how can I change that? And is there a way to automatically
create a rule by copying the behaviour of folders, i.e, by telling entourage
to check the folders I have and the categories assigned to their content and
create rules from that?

Possibly a rule that is handling the mail? The default settings for a rule
include an action to assign a category - have you a rule still doing that?

And is there a way to automatically create a rule by copying the behaviour
of folders, i.e, by telling entourage to check the folders I have and the
categories assigned to their content and create rules from that?

No, but if you create a rule with a message selected, the criteria box will
be populated from the properties of that message - e.g. If you choose a
criteria 'from', the text entry box will be filled with the sender of the
selected message etc.
