New Error Msg Outlook 2003

From the "What is it now?" files comes this when running OL 2003:

"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Standard edition
2003. Gathering required information". Goes through

"'C:\Users\John Surname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns\outlvba.dll' is not
a valid Office Add-in." The aforementioned directory is empty.

This happens every time I run OL. Actually, both dlg boxes twice. I've
uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted/added mail profiles, etc. etc.

See nothing in the KB (that I understand anyway).

PS: additional info if it matters:

- I'm using Word 97 because our huge number of macros do not port well into
Word 2003. This is the only app from Office 97 on the system;

- Excel and PowerPoint from Office 2007 are installed, but since this
'Student' version does not contain Outlook, I've installed Outlook 2003;

There are no more than one installation of each of these office apps on the
system.

Thank you for your time, Diane. I'm afraid it didn't work.

Any instructions you can point me to for *completely* uninstalling Outlook
2003 (and probably mail profiles/users, etc.)? I'm not afraid of Regedit if
need be.

Maybe I need to start from scratch.

I thought I'd bump to see if anyone has seen this or has some advice. I
uninstalled and reinstalled again, but still get the errors (in duplicate).
