New format types?

Is there any way to add new format types or is that totally under the control
of Microsoft?

We need an IP address datatype so we can add IP addresses in the correct
format. This would allow us to put IP Address, Mask & Gateway data fields and
have the data formatted correctly.

well, since you asked the question in the developer section, I hope it's safe
to bet that you know something about programming. The short answer is data
types in visio are limited to pretty much what you find in vb(a) and what can
be referenced. That said, what environment are you working in? For sandbox I
use vba, for production I use .NET. Framework 2.0 has some nice networking
stuff that can be used to do the validation for you.
