I am setting up a new PC - brand new install of XP Pro.
Installed all XP updates
Installed IIS 5.1 (Add/Remove Porgrams - Windows components -etc.)
Checked for updates again
Installed Frontpage server extension 2002
Installed Frontpage 2002 client
Checked for updates again!
Open Frontpage client - try to create a new web at http://localhost/myweb
and get the error message "Server Error: The server extensions were
unable to access the file frontpg.lck. Please check the file
permissions"
I am logged in with an Administrator account.
Next, I tried turning off "simple file sharing" and using the
"Security" tab on the folder properties for both wwwroot and _vti_pvt
gave myself, the IUSR_ComputerName user and finally "Everyone" full
access. Still have the same problem - can't create a web due to "file
permissions"!!!
member. This also didn't help.
Then I uninstalled Frontpage, extensions & IIS and reinstalled it all
again - same results!!!
What is totally frustrating is that the old PC sitting about 10 feet
from the new one SEEMS to have all the default settings and it works
fine.
Any ideas? I'm running out of stuff to try. I've searched google for
hours and am not finding anything that helps....
THanks for any help - pdarrah
