New laptop with Windows7 but no optical drive.

Just upgraded my laptop to one that has Windows7 and have been told that I
can download Microsoft Office 2007 in the "free trial" format and when
prompted, insert the serial number from my existing disks and I should be up
and running.
I would appreciate any & all suggestions, comments or recommendations as to
how to install Office on my new machine. Thanks.

Maybe I'm missing something but what you said is how you do it isn't
it? Download it to your hard drive. Get out your Office CD and read
the Serial off it and type it in when you run the install from the
files on your hard disk.

Normally won't work with the downloaded trial version.

What you need to do is copy the files from the install CD/DVD onto a USB
flash drive or hard drive using a computer that has a drive or connect to
the home or office network with a computer that has a drive that can read
the DVD/CD disk. Copy the files and install from the copied location. Or
better yet, purchase a USB external CD/DVD drive as it comes in handy when
you want to burn the beautiful video you have just created or send that CD
to a friend.
