Exchange server 5.5 sp4
NT4.0 sp6a
Clients stop receiving notification of new mail.
The user must refresh, usually by moving the view from one folder to
another.
Rebooting the Exchange server gets rid of the problem for up to several
weeks, then it returns.
I have installed the 329415 patch (updated emsmdb32.dll), but it has not
fixed the problem.
The date and version of the emsmdb32.dll on my server matches the specs in
the 329415 article.
The problem started recently. Probably some time after upgrading from
exchange sp3 to exchange sp4.
Clients are running Outlook 98 or 2000.
All clients are located on the same lan as the server.
There are no routers or firewalls between the clients and the Exchange
server.
It appears that the server stops sending the UDP notification packets.
At least I can't see any of the UDP packets coming from the server when I
monitor
the network with ethereal.
Thanks,
Mark
