new mail notification sound

I'm trying to get outlook to play a sound when i get an e-mail, i've read
several posts, and i have all my settings the way they should be, i have a
sound notification in the sounds, speech and audio devices sound scheme, and
sounds r enabled in the tools: options: e-mail advanced options within
outlook itself. I get no sound at all. sound works in everything else, i'm
running windows xp, 2.0 processor, 256 ram, 40 gig hd. Any thoughts (i am
using hotmail accounts, maybe thats it? if so i'll switch back to outlook
2000) Thanx
