New Mail window opens at Entourage stat-up

Every time my wife starts up Entourage for Mac (version 11.x or 12.x) a
new mail window opens. After a while, she ends up with 20 or more
windows, all displaying her inbox. I never have the problem. It
haappens on her Mac book, and also happened on Desktop prior to copying
her database onto the Macbook.

Anyone know why this happens? Anyway to fix it without trashing the
database?

This is a feature, not corruption.

Go to Entourage menu --> Preferences... --> General Preferences -->
General and UNcheck "Double-clicking in the Folders list opens a new
window".

Likewise, you can tell her that she simply should single-click a folder
to switch to that folder rather than double-clicking.
