I have Entourage 12.1.2 and have my notifications set so I will see the display on my desktop. The bouncy icon and the sound alert work fine, but no little preview on my desktop.
It worked off and on last week, but now, nothing.
I really like that little preview, any suggestions to what is going on?

You might try toggling the preference on/off to see if it will reset. Have
you looked at using Growl Notifications?

Use Growl with Entourage

Another way to get custom notifications in Entourage is to use custom sounds
in a rule.

I use Jolly's Play Sound with a rule to get customized sounds for certain
categories of mail. To me this is much more useful than the default sounds
that do not distinguish between important mail and spam.

See this page for using custom sounds with Entourage. You can even create
your own sounds or use computer voices to announce your mail. For example,
you could have the AppleScript say ³Mail from Dad².
