In older versions of Outlook, a sound could be played and the "new message"
indicator would appear in the Windows task bar when a new message arrived,
regardless of which folder the message landed in. In Outlook 2007, the
indicator only appears if new messages land in the Inbox. Likewise, the
sound can only be played if new messages land in the Inbox. This is very
frustrating for those of us who like to organize email form multiple accounts
in various folders, using automatic rules.
I have looked through every configuration menu that I can find, and I do not
see an option to correct this. The only working solution that I can come up
with, at the moment, is to let ALL messages from ALL accounts land in the
Inbox so the sound will play and the indicator will appear. Then, I can run
my established rules manually so all of my messages end up in the correct
folders. Of course, this is not an ideal solution.
Does anyone have any ideas?
